Volunteers — People Who Give Freely of Their Invaluable Time

Founded on a tradition of service, the Community Memorial Auxiliary is a group of volunteers committed to supporting the programs and services of Community Memorial Hospital, a nonprofit organization. Our volunteers are the heart of our hospital. Dedicated adults of all ages share a common giving spirit and a desire to use their life experiences and education to support patients, visitors and staff.

Activities

Our volunteers give generously of themselves, each one contributing to the smooth operation of many hospital services. In addition to logging many hours each year, our volunteers have also purchased numerous items to enhance the caring atmosphere of the hospital, including: 2 oncology patient rooms, the labyrinth at the hospital’s main entrance, the Gift Shop, and $100,000 towards a new C-arm dedicated to Ambulatory Surgery and GI Lab.

Typical services include helping with Complementary Therapy, Critical Care (CCU) Desk Receptionist, Emergency, Flyers, Gift Shop, GI Lab/Infusion Center, Maternity, NICU, Pharmacy, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Same Day Surgery, and Sewing Service, to mention a few.

Benefits of Being a Volunteer

Volunteers receive a complimentary meal ticket for every 10 hours of service per month, a complimentary snack for working 2 hours or more, and a discounted rate for our Wellness & Fitness Center and Pharmacy.

We also provide volunteers with free annual vaccines, Workers Compensation and Liability coverage while on duty, and we host an Annual Awards Luncheon and a Volunteer Week Luncheon.

Requirements

New volunteers receive individual training and complete a three-month probationary period. Volunteers must be able to complete at least twelve months of consecutive service and serve at least 4-6 hours each month.
