Heart & Vascular Care in Ventura County

Experienced Cardiovascular Care

Community Memorial provides more cardiovascular care to the people of Ventura County than any other medical facility in our area. We deliver comprehensive care, from education and prevention to cardiac rehabilitation. Always on the lookout for new medical advances and procedures that could benefit our patients, our experts are committed to staying on the leading edge of their field.

Covering every aspect of heart and vascular care grows increasingly challenging as medical science advances. Typical treatment plans often call for a collaborative approach involving several subspecialists.

  • Cardiologist: Sometimes called a non-invasive cardiologist, this doctor focuses on the diagnosis of heart conditions and non-invasive testing such as stress tests and electrocardiograms. He or she may refer you to a subspecialist and collaborate with them on your care.
  • Interventional Cardiologist: This doctor specializes in minimally invasive, catheter-based treatments and tests to identify and unblock arteries and improve blood flow. Interventional cardiology procedures include angioplasty, balloon angioplasty, atherectomy, and stent implantation.
  • Structural Heart: Experts in this relatively new subspecialty focus on abnormalities in the heart's valves, wall, or chambers. Heart defects are treated in a variety of ways depending on the individual patient. A structural heart program relies on a collaborative, multidisciplinary group of experts in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, and Electrophysiology.
  • Cardiothoracic Surgeons: These surgeons are trained to operate specifically on the heart, lungs, and thorax. Their training allows them to repair or replace faulty heart valves, fix aneurysms in the chest, and perform coronary bypass surgery in cases where balloon or stent procedures are not recommended.
  • Vascular Surgeons: These surgeons operate on the arteries, veins, and lymphatic system in every part of the body except the brain and heart. However, they are the go-to surgeons for issues affecting the carotid arteries in the neck and the aorta, which connect to the heart.

Our Expertise

  • Electrophysiology (EP): Our electrophysiologists excel at catheter ablation and other treatments for abnormal heart rhythms. They were one of the first cardiology groups in the area to offer the minimally invasive WATCHMAN FLXTM implant to reduce stroke risk from atrial fibrillation, or AFib.
  • Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab: Equipped with the latest imaging technologies, our state-of-the-art Cath Lab has everything our doctors need to perform minimally invasive tests and procedures.
  • Stroke: Community Memorial Hospital – Ventura is a certified Primary Stroke Center. In recognition of our high standards in stroke care, we have also earned the American Stroke Association’s Gold Plus Achievement Award and the Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus Achievement Award.
  • Structural Heart: Our structural heart team consists of experts in interventional cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, electrophysiology, and advanced cardiac imaging. These specialists collaborate on advanced minimally invasive procedures to treat defective valves and other structural abnormalities of the heart.
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery: Our seasoned cardiothoracic surgical teams have been working together for years. Operating in our dedicated heart surgical suite, they have performed hundreds of procedures for coronary and heart valve diseases, on patients of all ages.
  • Vascular Surgery: Our excellent vascular surgeons perform a wide range of open and catheter-based procedures. Carotid disease, venous disease, and even aortic aneurysm can now be treated minimally invasively.
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation: Our compassionate, personalized rehabilitation program helps patients recover and make lifestyle changes to lower their risk of heart disease in the future.
  • Diagnostics & Imaging: We offer state-of-the-art cardiovascular testing, imaging, and diagnostics for heart and vascular conditions. Invasive tests, which involve the use of catheters to access the heart and major blood vessels, are performed in our Cath Lab.
