About
David Blitzer, MD, is a vascular surgeon specializing in the treatment of complex vascular and aortic conditions. Experienced in both traditional open surgery and minimally invasive endovascular procedures, he takes a patient-centered approach to care, developing individualized treatment plans that reflect each patient's needs and goals. He is committed to expanding access to advanced vascular treatments for patients in Ventura County.
Dr. Blitzer graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina before spending two years conducting advanced research at the National Institutes of Health. He earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed his general surgery residency at MedStar Health in Baltimore, followed by a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Maryland. His research has been featured in more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and he has presented his work at national medical conferences.
Dr. Blitzer collaborates with cardiothoracic surgeon Ryan Vela, MD, to perform thoracic branched endoprosthesis, a minimally invasive procedure used to treat thoracic aortic aneurysms, aortic dissections, and other complex aortic conditions. This specialized approach to thoracic endovascular aortic repair uses a branched stent graft to repair the aorta while preserving blood flow to essential arteries. Together, Dr. Blitzer and Dr. Vela bring advanced aortic treatment options to patients closer to home.
