Life Before Medical School: Before medical school, I worked as a barista at the Vons Starbucks in Moorpark where I came to know many regulars (shoutout Don), hear the stories shaping our community of Ventura County, and make delicious iced-shaken espressos! Around this time, I also began working as a receptionist at the Wellness Center for Healing in Thousand Oaks for Dr. Babcock who continues to be my mentor and female physician role model. Here I helped welcome and support patients, an experience that sparked my love for community-centered care.
Why Community Memorial? From the moment I met the residents, faculty, and staff on my rotation, I was struck by how welcoming, genuine, and supportive everyone was; the residents at Community Memorial Healthcare are a true community. The way the residents and faculty practice medicine and treat each other aligns with the kind of physician I want to be.
Just as important, my family, friends, and fiancé are here and I feel deeply connected to Ventura County which encompasses all that makes SoCal special- from the amazing food and culture to the natural beauty that surrounds us! I feel incredibly grateful that my partner and I have the opportunity to train at Community Memorial Hospital and serve the patients who make up this wonderful community.
