Emily K Young, MPAS, PA-C is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. With over a decade of experience in the field of Hematology and Oncology, she is dedicated to delivering individualized care to every patient. She received her undergraduate education at California Polytechnic State University with a major in Kinesiology. She decided to pursue a career in medicine and received her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Early in her career, Emily developed a passion for the constantly evolving field of Oncology. She has completed additional training in Cancer Genetic Risk Assessment. As a Physician Assistant in the field of hematology-oncology, Emily's responsibilities include assessing patient health prior to receiving chemotherapy and determining readiness for treatment, monitoring patients during and after treatment, and assisting in developing and implementing treatment plans. She also takes medical histories, performs physical examinations, diagnoses conditions, interprets and acts on laboratory and imaging results, manages emergencies and infusion reactions that may occur during chemotherapy administration, provides treatment counseling, and performs bone marrow aspiration and biopsies.
