David Blitzer, MD

About

Dr. David Blitzer graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina before spending two years conducting advanced research at the National Institutes of Health. He earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, completed his general surgery residency at MedStar Health in Baltimore, and pursued fellowship training in vascular surgery at the University of Maryland. His research has been featured in more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and he has presented his work at national conferences.

Dr. Blitzer takes a patient-centered approach to vascular care, tailoring treatment to each patient’s individual needs. Experienced in both open surgery and minimally invasive endovascular procedures, he is committed to expanding access to advanced treatment options for complex vascular and aortic conditions.

At Community Memorial Hospital – Ventura, Dr. Blitzer collaborates with cardiothoracic surgeon Ryan Vela, MD, to perform thoracic branched endoprosthesis (TBE), a minimally invasive procedure for treating thoracic aortic aneurysms, aortic dissections, and other complex aortic conditions. Together, they are the only physicians in Ventura County offering this specialized approach to thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). By combining their expertise in vascular and cardiothoracic surgery, Drs. Blitzer and Vela use a branched stent graft to repair the aorta while preserving blood flow to essential arteries—bringing highly specialized aortic care closer to home.
